The Schaumburg Boomers fend off the River City Rascals' late push, hold on 5-3

The River City Rascals (9-17) weren't able to overcome the big hole they dug themselves into against the Schaumburg Boomers (17-11), and the River City Rascals lost 5-3 to the Schaumburg Boomers after falling behind by four runs in the sixth inning.

The River City Rascals scored two runs in the sixth on an RBI double by Curran Redal and a solo home run by Jason Taylor. Still, the River City Rascals couldn't draw even.

Chad Mozingo paced the Schaumburg Boomers at the plate. Mozingo went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the first and third innings and homered in the fifth inning.

Taylor was hot from the plate for the River City Rascals. Taylor went 1-3, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the sixth inning.

Mike Giovenco recorded his second win of the year for the Schaumburg Boomers. He allowed three runs over 5 2/3 innings. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered six hits.

Brett Harman couldn't get it done on the hill for the River City Rascals, taking a loss. He lasted just five innings, walked none, struck out two, and allowed three runs.
