The Normal CornBelters uses big first inning to beat the Schaumburg Boomers, 9-3

The Normal CornBelters (11-4) rolled over the Schaumburg Boomers (9-7) 9-3 on Thursday at Schaumburg Baseball Stadium after a five-run rally in the first inning.

Romulo Ruiz racked up five RBIs on two hits for the Normal CornBelters. He doubled in the first inning and homered in the fifth inning.

The Schaumburg Boomers couldn't get anything going as long as Alan Oaks was pitching. Oaks held the Schaumburg Boomers hitless over 2 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three.

Jose Trinidad improved to 3-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Normal CornBelters. He allowed three runs over six innings. He struck out two, walked five and surrendered five hits.

Joe Parsons couldn't get it done on the hill for the Schaumburg Boomers, taking a loss. He allowed eight runs in six innings, walked none and struck out six.
