The Schaumburg Boomers make the most of 5 hits in 2-1 victory over the Washington Wild Things

The Schaumburg Boomers (4-0) and the Washington Wild Things (0-3) both threatened with rallies, but it was the Schaumburg Boomers that eventually took advantage of them in a 2-1 win at Schaumburg Baseball Stadium.

The Schaumburg Boomers' Craig Hertler was perfect at the dish, going 2-2. He singled in the third and seventh innings.

Matt Kuna brought the heat against the Washington Wild Things during his outing. The Washington Wild Things managed just one hit off of Kuna, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his 2 1/3 innings of work.

A bright spot for the Washington Wild Things in the defeat was Shawn Blackwell, who allowed only two runs while striking out five.

Joe Parsons improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Schaumburg Boomers. He allowed one run over five innings. He struck out five, walked one and surrendered six hits.

Blackwell (0-1) took the loss for the Washington Wild Things.
