A seven-run explosion in the second inning carried the Alaska Goldpanners (22-13) to a 9-2 win over the Matsu Miners (20-15) at Growden Memorial Park on Thursday.
Casey Munoz racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Alaska Goldpanners. He homered in the second inning and singled in the fourth inning.
The Alaska Goldpanners relied on Drew Mitrisin to eat up innings en route to the win. Mitrisin pitched six innings and allowed one earned run, five hits and one walk while striking out three.
Gio Brusa paced the Matsu Miners at the plate. Brusa went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the second inning and singled in the sixth innings.
Ty Schlottmann ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in 1 1/3 innings, walked four and struck out two.
