The Somerset Patriots take out the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs with help from Smith, 7-4

Corey Smith had two extra base hits, helping the Somerset Patriots (17-8) to a 7-4 victory over the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (11-16) on Wednesday at TD Bank Ballpark.

He doubled in the second and fourth innings.

Josh Lowey picked up the win for the Somerset Patriots. Lowey pitched six innings and allowed one earned run, five hits and four walks while striking out four.

Ryan Mulhern put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. He doubled in the fifth inning and homered in the eighth inning.

Gabriel Hernandez ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his sixth loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in six innings, walked none and struck out two.

The Somerset Patriots were sparked by Eddy Martinez-Esteve and Smith, who teamed up for four hits and four RBIs.
