The Somerset Patriots (3-1) refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (1-3), recording a 12-2 victory on Sunday at TD Bank Ballpark.

Nine runs in the first three innings allowed the Somerset Patriots to put the game away early.

A solo home run by Mike Wilson, an RBI double by Bobby Stevens, an RBI single by Jonny Tucker, an RBI single by Yunesky Sanchez, , and a two-run single by Wilson in the second inning helped the Somerset Patriots put some runs on the board early.

Tucker racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Somerset Patriots.

Mitch Atkins got the win for the Somerset Patriots thanks to six strikeouts. Atkins allowed one earned run, four hits and one walk over five innings.

Jose Julio-Ruiz reached base three times. He also drove in one runner. He singled in the second inning and doubled in the seventh inning.

Tommy Mendoza (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed nine runs in three innings, walked three and struck out two.
