The Bethesda Big Train jump on the Southern Maryland Nationals early and coast to 9-1 win

The Bethesda Big Train (23-7) jumped out to an early lead on the Southern Maryland Nationals (15-15) and captured a 9-1 victory on Monday at Regency Furniture Stadium.

Five runs in the first three innings allowed the Bethesda Big Train to put the game away early.

A steal of home by David Del Grande, , and a groundout by Ty France during the first inning and a sacrifice fly by Del Grande in the second inning supplied the early offense for the Bethesda Big Train.

Ricky Santiago reached base three times. He scored one run and had one RBI. He singled in the fourth inning and homered in the sixth inning.

Bubba Derby struck out seven, paving the way for a the Bethesda Big Train win. The Bethesda Big Train's pitcher gave up just four hits over five shutout innings.

Chris Coia got a hit in each of his three at bats. He singled in the third, fifth, and sixth innings.

Austin Poretz ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 2 2/3 innings, walked three, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
