The Chicago Bandits get key pinch-hit in 5-1 victory over the Carolina Diamonds

Story by Narrative Science.

Kristen Butler was cold coming off the bench, but Butler warmed up quickly as Butler stroked a key pinch-hit solo home run in the one to lead the Chicago Bandits (2-0) to a 5-1 win over the Carolina Diamonds (0-2) on Friday at Rosemont Stadium.

With the Chicago Bandits leading by one, Butler came to the plate and homered.

The Chicago Bandits came out swinging, scoring four runs in the first inning to jump ahead of the Carolina Diamonds early.

Butler racked up three RBIs on one hit for the Chicago Bandits.

The Carolina Diamonds had no answer for Monica Abbott, who kept runners off the basepaths in her appearance. Abbott held the Carolina Diamonds hitless over 2 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four.

Nikki Nemitz got the win, running her season record to 1-0. She allowed one run over 4 2/3 innings. She struck out six, walked two and surrendered four hits.

Angel Bunner ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with her first loss of the year. She lasted just three innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
