Boxscore | Game Recap | Boxscore Text Version | Gamelive Version

The Bourne Braves' Goldstein comes through in the clutch, upends the Cotuit Kettleers, 6-4

Story by Narrative Science.

Steve Goldstein drove in the winning run to give the Bourne Braves (2-1) the lead in the eighth inning, as the Bourne Braves hung on to beat the Cotuit Kettleers (1-2) 6-4 on Sunday.

Joe Jackson reached on an error to start the eighth. He then went from first to second on a groundout by Connor David. Finally, Goldstein came to the plate with the score tied at one, and singled, bringing home Jackson.

The Bourne Braves would not relinquish the lead as the Cotuit Kettleers were unable to weather a four-run eighth inning deficit.

The Cotuit Kettleers scored three runs in the eighth on a two-run home run by Tony Kemp and an RBI single by Patrick Biondi. Despite their efforts, the Cotuit Kettleers couldn't get over the hump.

Trent Gilbert had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He singled in the fifth inning and doubled in the seventh and ninth innings.

Patrick Young got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed two runs over 1 2/3 innings. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered three hits.

Cameron Griffin was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed two runs.

The Bourne Braves were sparked by LJ Mazzilli and Gilbert, who teamed up for four hits and four RBIs.
