Steve Goldstein drove in the winning run to give the Bourne Braves (2-1) the lead in the eighth inning, as the Bourne Braves hung on to beat the Cotuit Kettleers (1-2) 6-4 on Sunday.Joe Jackson reached on an error to start the eighth. He then went from first to second on a groundout by Connor David. Finally, Goldstein came to the plate with the score tied at one, and singled, bringing home Jackson.
The Bourne Braves would not relinquish the lead as the Cotuit Kettleers were unable to weather a four-run eighth inning deficit.
Trent Gilbert had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He singled in the fifth inning and doubled in the seventh and ninth innings.
Patrick Young got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed two runs over 1 2/3 innings. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered three hits.
