Five first-inning runs helped the Newport Gulls (4-1) to a 6-3 win over the New Bedford Bay Sox (2-2) at Paul Walsh Field on Tuesday.

Conor Keniry racked up three RBIs on one hit for the Newport Gulls. He doubled in the first inning.

The New Bedford Bay Sox's lineup had no answer for Ryan Pennell. The New Bedford Bay Sox managed just one hit off of Pennell, who allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out five during his four innings of work.

Jonathan Massad was effective even in defeat, mowing down five the Newport Gulls batters and allowing zero runs.

Donald Murray was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed five runs.
