A great effort by Daniel Aldrich carried the Cotuit Kettleers (21-12) to a 16-3 win over the Wareham Gatemen (15-18) on Thursday at Spillane Field.
Aldrich rocked the Wareham Gatemen with two home runs. Aldrich went 2-4 in the game with four RBIs and two runs scored. Aldrich homered in the sixth and seventh innings.
The Cotuit Kettleers blew out the Wareham Gatemen thanks to 11 hits, including zero extra base hits. The Cotuit Kettleers scored six runs in the seventh on , a triple by Tony Kemp, a double by Jacob Valdez, and a solo home run by Aldrich.
The Wareham Gatemen had no answer for Cameron Griffin, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Griffin held the Wareham Gatemen hitless over 1 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.
Tyler Horan had a hot bat for the Wareham Gatemen. Horan went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the first inning and homered in the seventh inning.
Ryan Connolly got the win, running his season record to 6-0. He allowed one run over 2 2/3 innings. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered two hits.
Barrett Astin ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his fourth loss of the year. He lasted just 4 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
