Thursday was a great day for Valerie Arioto, as she hit two home runs to carry the United States National Team (9-0) to an 8-0 victory over the Puerto Rico National Team (1-6) at Softball City one in five innings.
Arioto racked up six RBIs on two hits for the United States National Team. She homered in the first and second innings and singled in the fourth inning.
Eight runs in the opening three innings allowed the United States National Team to easily put away the Puerto Rico National Team. An RBI double by Amanda Chidester and a two-run home run by Arioto during the first inning and a home run by Arioto in the second inning helped the United States National Team put some runs on the board early.
The United States National Team's Chelsea Thomas kept the Puerto Rico National Team off the scoreboard for all five innings she was on the hill. She pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on two hits while ringing up eight.
Laura Ramos (0-3) took the loss for the Puerto Rico National Team. She lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out one, and allowed three runs.
