The Schaumburg Boomers (23-14) were never able to get over the hump and get over their troubles against the Normal CornBelters (14-21) on Wednesday, as the Schaumburg Boomers fell 5-3 at The Corn Crib after falling behind by four runs in the third inning.
The Schaumburg Boomers scored on an RBI single by Sean Mahley in the fifth inning and a groundout by Nate Baumann in the sixth inning. Still, the Schaumburg Boomers couldn't catch the Normal CornBelters.
Yasel Gomez had two extra-base hits for the Normal CornBelters. He homered in the second inning and doubled in the sixth inning.
Ryan Krumlauf picked up the win for the Normal CornBelters. Krumlauf allowed one earned run, seven hits and one walk while striking out four over seven innings of work.
Chad Mozingo put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Schaumburg Boomers. He tripled in the second inning and doubled in the eighth inning.
Cameron Roth ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed five runs.
