Jonathan McGibbon brought home the winning run to give the Falmouth Commodores (9-6) the lead in the sixth inning, as the Falmouth Commodores hung on to beat the Wareham Gatemen (8-7) 5-4 on Thursday.Drew Dosch doubled to start the sixth. He then went from second to third on a double by Jake Rodriguez. Finally, McGibbon came to the plate with the Falmouth Commodores trailing by one, and doubled, scoring Dosch and Rodriguez.
Billy Ferriter paced the Falmouth Commodores at the plate. Ferriter went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the third inning and homered in the sixth inning.
The Wareham Gatemen had no answer for Craig Schlitter, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Schlitter held the Wareham Gatemen hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four.
Clay Chapman was effective even in defeat, mowing down six the Falmouth Commodores batters and allowing zero runs.
Kurt McCune (0-2) took the loss for the Wareham Gatemen. He lasted just five innings, walked none, struck out six, and allowed five runs.
