Nathalie Timmermans drove in the go-ahead run to give the Netherlands National Team (2-0) the lead in the sixth inning, as the Netherlands National Team hung on to beat the Brazil National Team (1-2) 4-3 on Friday.

Virginie Anneveld hit into a fielder's choice to start the sixth. He then went from first to third on an RBI single by Yonina Sint Jago. Finally, Timmermans came to the plate with the Netherlands National Team trailing by one in the sixth inning, and doubled, plating Anneveld and Areke Spel.

Timmermans had two extra-base hits for the Netherlands National Team. He doubled in the third and sixth innings.

The Netherlands National Team would not relinquish the lead as the Brazil National Team were unable to weather a two-run sixth inning deficit.

The Brazil National Team scored one run in the sixth on an RBI single by Martha Murazawa. Still, the Brazil National Team couldn't draw even.

Britt Vonk was solid at the plate for the Netherlands National Team. Vonk went 3-4 and scored one run. He singled in the first, sixth, and seventh innings.

Lindsey Meadows got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed three runs over five innings. Meadows struck out seven, walked none and gave up six hits.

Nilze Higa (1-1) took the loss for the Brazil National Team. He lasted just seven innings, walked none, struck out eight, and allowed four runs.
