The Rio Grande Valley Whitewings (17-10) and the Fort Worth Cats (16-11) each put runners in scoring position on Thursday, but the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 2-0 win at Harlingen Field.

Wander Perez put together a nice outing. Perez held the Fort Worth Cats hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

Henry Garcia improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings. Garcia struck out two, walked one and gave up five hits.

Trevor Harden couldn't get it done on the mound for the Fort Worth Cats, taking a loss. He lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed two runs.
