Little League Baseball and Softball Will Utilize Pointstreak Sports Technologies for Scoring Technology

Toronto, ON – Pointstreak Sports Technologies and Little League International are pleased to announce they have reached a service agreement which will have Pointstreak provide real-time scoring, official statistics and administration services for the 2011 Little League International Tournaments. This will be the second consecutive year in which Little League has utilized Pointstreak’s in-game baseball scoring system for tournament play.

Last year, Little League used the system on a trial basis for the U.S. Little League Division baseball regionals.  The system was then utilized on a “live” basis for the Little League Baseball World Series.

This year, the system will be used at each of the five Little League Softball regional tournaments in the U.S., all eight of the U.S. Little League Baseball regional tournaments, and at as many as eight of the World Series events, including the Little League Baseball World Series.

The softball regionals begin today in the East and Central regions.  The baseball regionals begin at three locations on Aug. 4, and the Big League Baseball World Series begins on July 27 kicking off a month of World Series action.  The 65th Little League Baseball World Series will be played Aug. 18-28 in South Williamsport, Pa.

“The scoring system provided by Pointstreak Sports Technologies proved beneficial in extending the reach of the Little League Baseball World Series last year,” Stephen D. Keener, President and Chief Executive Officer of Little League Baseball and Softball, said.  “This year we are expanding the use of the system to give as many of our tournaments as possible the ability to reach people they haven’t been able to in the past.  We had more than 1.5 million page views last year and we expect that number to increase.”

Pointstreak's baseball platform will streamline the process of capturing and displaying game statistics for the Little League International Tournament and deliver those events to the Little League website in real-time for the benefit of players, fans and media partners. A unique feature of Pointstreak's baseball statistical solution is GameLive, a real-time flash application that streams play-by-play baseball results over a 3-D graphical image of a baseball diamond. Pointstreak stats for baseball is also geared towards the needs of media sources, providing Associated Press (AP) formatted box scores, allowing for easy reproduction of baseball stats.
