Pointstreak Partners with Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League
Apr 13, 2011
Toronto, ON – Pointstreak Sports Technologies Inc. and The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League are pleased to announce they have reached an agreement which will see Pointstreak provide real-time scoring, official statistics and league administration services to the league.
“The GLSCL is delighted to partner with Pointstreak and its integrated media management web solution. Pointstreak’s baseball platform will systemize the process of capturing and delivering statistics for the league and deliver those events to the league website real-time. As a founding member of the National Alliance of Collegiate Summer Baseball (NACSB) the GLSCL formalizes its integration in Major League Baseball’s player development process by providing the MLB scouting bureau with easy access to prospect data. As ‘the best place to play summer baseball in the nation’ the GLSCL is proud to deliver the best in sports media coverage”, Dr. Kim Lance, GLSCL Commissioner stated.
Pointstreak Stats’ baseball platform will streamline the process of capturing and delivering game statistics for the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League and deliver those game events to the league and team websites in real-time for the benefit of players, fans and media partners. A unique feature of Pointstreak’s baseball statistical solution is Game Live, a real-time flash application that streams play-by-play baseball results over a 3-D graphical image of a baseball diamond. Pointstreak Stats for baseball is also geared towards the needs of media sources, providing Associated Press (AP) formatted box scores, allowing for easy reproduction of baseball stats into print media.
“Our alignment with the NACSB and its member leagues present us all with an extraordinary opportunity to enhance player development and advancement tremendously. The Great Lakes League has always been amongst the Top Tier of Summer College Ball in North America and we are extremely proud to have been chosen as the Official Stats and League Administration Platform for 2011 and beyond. To have the ability to provide scores and official statistics to their fans, media partners and scouts via the web and mobile applications in true real-time is very exciting”, said Paul Pettipiece, Vice President of Baseball Operations of Pointstreak Sports Technologies Inc.
About the GLSCL:
The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League, established in 1986, prides itself on its ability to provide young collegiate athletes with the opportunity to compete against the nation’s elite baseball players. As a non-profit organization, the GLSCL is one of few summer collegiate leagues that places the student-athletes first on its list of priorities by offering discounted housing, charter bus rides to away games and free meals following all games. It is this principle of putting the athletes first that has allowed the league to prosper into one of college baseball’s premier summer leagues. Along with the help of Major League Baseball scout Lou Laslo, as well as Ron Miller and William Caughey, Henschen began the initial planning process for the GLSCL in early April of 1986 and within six months the league had six members and a sponsor in Pepsi USA. The six original teams included Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Columbus, Lima and Toledo from Ohio, as well as Muncie from Indiana. In the months leading up to the opening of its inaugural season, the GLSCL also set a new precedent by becoming the first league to be sanctioned by the NCAA and receive funding from MLB while playing a game.
